Textiles run like a red thread through my life. I still remember the piled up rolls of fabric in the stores where my mother took me. But it is mainly by innovative materials and techniques that my textile artwork has developed strongly. As colors and textures are essential, I’m always looking for the riches I see in creation. Like oaks in the winter full of mold and moss, old fresco walls or mysterious stars and nebulae.
Observation, study and meditation are an important part of my creative process. Walking through the woods, images emerge. Sometimes through a text that speaks to me from a distant past, or the joy I find in music. Amazement all around me, as I look for beauty and truth. My writing and giving lectures comes naturally out of passionate living… there is so much to learn and to discover!
High-tech materials such as synthetic paper and fleeces, offer a lot of freedom for me to compose and are constantly challenging me to experiment. By processing transparent fabrics and fibers with acrylic paint and the heat gun, a rich organic texture is created, which points to the layers of my themes.
Changing the surface, removing the shallowness. Challenging my audience to look beyond what is obvious. Come closer, be surprised by the beauty and the sanctity of life…
Jackie also works on assignment. Her artwork has found its way to private homes and companies in the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and South Africa.
