In the early years Jackie Howard has worked as a fashion designer and interior decorator. Next to that she is also well known for her faith-based creative expression workshops. Today Jewish culture, the Psalms and Prophets of the Bible and her amazement about Creation, are the sources of inspiration behind her Fiber Art. Study and meditation has become an integral part of the creative process, often resulting in the making of extensive art series. Jackie is passionate about life and loves to share her inner thoughts also through writing and teaching. There is so much to uncover!
The love for textiles is the essence of Jackie’s work, though high tech materials and techniques challenge her to experiment. By combining transparent fabrics and fibers with acrylic paint, paper and heat manipulation, captivating organic textures are built that express the depth of her subjects. With her developed sense for nuance she allows the material to take her by the hand. Raising the surface, removing the shallowness. Challenging and daring to look behind what is evident.
Come closer…. be surprised by the beauty and sanctity of life.
Jackie also works on commission. Her artwork has found its way to individual homes as well as businesses in Holland, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and South-Africa. Her studio is situated in the city of Putten, The Netherlands.
